Volunteer work grew into an association for Ukrainians in Northern Ostrobothnia.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion began in 2022, Ukrainians already living in Finland and those who had fled the war began helping Ukraine and people arriving in Finland.
The Oulu Help Center was established with Finnish volunteers. It collected humanitarian aid for Ukraine and offered newly arrived people essential supplies, practical guidance, translation help, and activities.
Ukrainians of Northern Ostrobothnia was founded in January 2023. Its aim is to nurture Ukrainian language and culture, support integration into Finnish society, and help Ukraine.
